A lid for every pot
You can get a hamburger at a drive thru window and at a 5 star restaurant, and everything in between. There's nothing wrong with fast food or fine dining. If we all valued the same things the world wouldn't be a very interesting place, would it?! Your choices depend on your budget and the value you place on things like service and the experience. There is something for everyone.
Read below for some thoughts on whether Rough Coat Photography is a good fit for your photography needs.
I'm the wrong fit if:
-
You just want a couple of quick photos of your horse or dog. This is perfectly fine, of course! My clients come to me for my in depth knowledge of horses and dogs and the full experience of a private photo session. That includes things like a pre-session consultation, a Welcome Guide, a custom slideshow of your images, a personal Gallery Review and curated artwork to choose from.
-
You want a family session with just 'a few photos of the dog'. While I'm happy to do family sessions the pets are always fully involved. That doesn't mean we can't take a few frames with just the two-legged members of the family, it's just not the primary focus.
-
You want to dress up your dog in different outfits. If your dog loves this then so do I, but my sessions are a celebration of your pet's life, their importance as a member of your family and their love for you.
-
You are not on great terms with Mother Nature. You don't need to be a world class mountain climber or in tip top shape but you should enjoy the natural world and be OK with sitting on the ground, perched on rocks or walking along a path. No climate controlled options available! We still do all the beauty shots of your pet you want.
-
You don't enjoy a touch of adventure and a go-with-the-flow mindset (both of which I feel are absolutely necessary when working with animals). If you leave your sense of humor in the car or expect perfect behavior from your pet I am not the right fit! My session are fun and informal and we will try lots of different things.
I'm a good fit if:
-
You believe your pet makes your life better in almost every way. You want a photo session as a tribute to their unconditional love and loyalty, and a way to hold on to them forever.
-
You want a photographer who is laser-focused on horses and dogs and has vast experience with both. I am as obsessed with my own pets as you are with yours so I completely get it if you need to break out the baby-talk. If you are interested in family, wedding or newborn photography I am happy to give you recommendations for wonderful local photographers who excel in those genres.
-
You are tempted by archival quality wall art, image boxes, and prints because you know these photos should be enjoyed for generations. You also know your horse or dog deserves the very best.
-
You think your horse or dog is THE cutest, sweetest, goofiest, funniest and most wonderful friend you could ever have and you feel beyond blessed to have them in your life.
-
You know we never have our pets long enough, and you want to celebrate them as they are NOW. Whether they are just a wee little thing, in the prime of their life or a beautiful grey-face, fine art portraits of your four-legged best friend will be something you treasure forever.
