The 2022 Pet Calendar Project - Ninth and Tenth Session
Fabio Casanova, Victoria Anne, Dave & Lisa
It's fitting that as I'm writing this it's dark and raining outside because it mimics the conditions we were rushing to beat the day of our session. And by rushing I mean we were all literally running for the car! More on that in a second.
Two Winners ... One Family
Fabio Casanova and Victoria Anne are two beautiful poodles owned by Dave & Lisa who entered them as individuals in the calendar contest and each dog won a spot!
The plan was to do the sessions back to back and I selected Overlook Park because it's a location that offers different backdrops within a decent walking distance.
It was obvious that it was going to rain at some point but I thought that if we moved right along we would be able to beat it. Fabio and Victoria were completely with that plan - looking and posing exactly how we asked them to, and on the first few tries too. We got great images pretty quickly then moved to the next spot.
The first location (top photo) gave us that gorgeous light I love - with dramatic dark skies but enough light bouncing around to brighten up the dogs. We worked with Victoria Anne then I couldn't resist adding Fabio for a few frames and shooting both dogs together. Here's what the "before" photo looks like. Just for fun I put the "after" version in a digital room setting - see photo at the bottom of the page - it's gorgeous!
Making a run for it...
The sky was getting darker and darker but incredibly there was no rain (yet) and the sky behind me was still bright and lighting up our beautiful subjects. We were running out of available light fairly quickly though and we started working our way back to the car. The sky was almost black and we started making a run for it. Dave and Lisa were total sports about everything and once again I was grateful for owners who make the best of things.
The photo below was taken just before I got in the car - you can still see a slice of bright sky though it was quickly disappearing at that point. You can also see it still wasn't raining even though the sky was turning almost black - it was amazing. On the drive home I hit the hardest rain I have ever experienced.
Here's that photo of Fabio Casanova and Victoria Anne together. Aren't they just beautiful?
Cliffhangers - I've not included the photo that is likely to be featured in the calendar so you'll have to wait until the calendar comes out in the fall to see it! Such is the case with the other calendar participants I've blogged about. Anticipation is fun, isn't it? :)
What's next for the 2022 Pet Calendar Project?
A sweet dog who likes ducks is on deck - I can't wait for you to meet 'Storm'! Check back and see some preview images of his session!
The 2022 Pet Calendar will be available for purchase in September and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Pitties.Love.Peace.
