The 2022 Pet Calendar Project - Fifth Session
Kip and Carrie
Last month I met Kip and Carrie at the beautiful Nissley Vineyards. They graciously opened up their stunning property to us and we took full advantage. I seriously could have stayed there for hours, there were gorgeous photo opportunities every time I turned around.
Nissley Vineyards hosts a popular summer concert series so accordingly, I think Kip will be featured in one of the warmer months in the calendar.
I've had the pleasure of working with Carrie several times before and I always love her photos because she has such an amazing relationship with Kip and her horse, Liam. Just look at her photos from her photo shoot last fall. (See samples from other horse and dog sessions - they're a specialty of mine!)
Kip will do anything his mom asks, and Carrie puts up with some of my crazier ideas ("Make him jump in the air right here.") so as a team they are a dream to work with. He was on a leash the entire time (see top right photo and below) so even though some of these photos appear he's having fun all on his own his mom was standing next to him the entire time holding his leash.
Maybe my biggest challenge was to get Kip to look at me. This is sometimes the case with dogs who just want to stare lovingly at their owner or are eagerly anticipating the next fun thing their owner asks them to do. He was not as interested in my noises as some dogs so I had to use them sparingly and judiciously. But luckily Kip looks just as handsome in profile so it wasn't really an issue.
Cliffhangers - I've not included the photo that is likely to be featured in the calendar so you'll have to wait until the calendar comes out in the fall to see it! Such is the case with the other calendar participants I've blogged about. Anticipation is fun, isn't it? :)
Mini Announcement - I have some available days here and there in August & September if you are interested in a session with your horse, dog or both. Our equine friends start to get fuzzy in September so think about scheduling a session now or you might have to wait until next year. I am mostly booked for early/mid fall but have some dates in late October and early November. Email me at valerie@roughcoatphoto.com ASAP if you'd like to get on the schedule or fill in one of the forms below.
